"The set list is an important factor to the Israeli audience, that has no mercy on its heroes. In the press conference he held this morning Cornell confessed he didn’t know what he was about to play tonight and that he usually decides what he's to play only on the night of the show.

In Tel Aviv Chris Cornell gave a perfect set list keeping a perfect balance between his songs from different years. When he went on stage with arms wide open to the sound of his last album "Scream" the feeling was that this was going to be a great show, and such it was.

Cornell's new songs (which most of the audience feared) got a new color, a new life and passionate energies from an artist that has rock pumping through his veins but doesn't mind fooling around with catchy hits as "Part of Me"

Cornell is a true "stage animal" - you could see it on every muscle on his face. He was in the show from the first second and the Israeli audience gave him a big loyal hug, shouting the words with him, cheering the first notes of a familiar song.

Cornell's vocal powers are well preserved and could be heard clearly when he gave his phenomenal version of "Redemption Song" armed only with an acoustic guitar.

Cornell didn't miss out any period of his musical career, from Soundgarden to his solo projects, and Audioslave's "Show Me How To Live" was responded to with a great roar.

His touching version of "Billie Jean" and the moving "Hunger Strike" that he sang in response to a few signs in the audience were a pure pleasure.

Cornell didn't come over to "do his job", he came to enjoy himself and maybe to compensate for last year's cancelled show, which he didn't forget to mention. He ended with "Black Hole Sun" sending many smiling people home with a promise of coming back." Here is a quick recap of my experiences this day, along with a picture of the set list I managed to grab at the end of the show:

We Left nice and early in the morning for the signing in Fords NJ. As soon as we arrived at around 11:30 AM we were notified by a very nice fan that it was cancelled along with the concert at night due to Chris being sick (signs posted at the record store confirmed this information). We were extremely disappointed to hear this. On a hunch we decided to double check the status of the Montclair show, which the box office was reporting as still "On". Too bad we had already driven an hour to the signing and had to walk around a mall for about 7 hours till Showtime.....Still don't really understand why management waited so long to report the cancelation of the signing. There were a lot of upset fans that had driven hours in the rain to get a chance to meet Chris. I also wonder how many missed the concert due to incorrect information being passed along.

Well, on to the fun part of the day. The concert was really a good time. We were one person away from the front rail, directly in the middle. We had a poster requesting Pretty Noose which Chris read and made a remark something to the effect of "...It’s already on the set list". We could not exactly understand what he was saying most of the time. The sound in the venue was not mixed properly. Pretty Noose was played next during which he sent a smile our way, and a round of "high fives" was exchanged with my group and some friends we met while online and on the floor. I experienced a first at this show when Chris came right up to us during Black Hole Sun and gave me a handshake! Overall a fun concert experience, but slightly surprised there was no mention of the cancelled signing at the show. Feel better Chris!

Chris Cornell writes new song with fan

Chris Cornell has written and recorded a new song, "I Promise It's Not Goodbye", with lyrics by fan Rory Dela Rosa. You can hear the song streaming at chriscornell.com or on Chris's social networking sites at MySpace, Facebook, and Imeem.

One of Rory's carers had this to say about the song:

"I have the greatest honor of spending every day with the lyricist of this new song. What you all do not know is just how deep this song actually goes and the basis behind it's importance. I have been given permission from Rory to speak about his situation. Rory lost his 6 year old daughter, Ainslee to Cancer this past April. After having to endure such a tragic loss, Rory, himself was diagnosed with non-operable Cancer just 4 months later. When Rory became my patient and more importantly my friend, I asked him what his final wish would be. He expressed the need to tell Chris Cornell how much his music impacted his life and of the bond it helped create for him and his daughter...often times Chris' music is what made Ainslee smile throughout her battle with cancer. This goes way BEYOND a fan making a song with an artist. Chris has truly opened his heart for Rory...something he never had to do. For everything that is missing for Rory, Chris has played a major part in filling the holes... as there are many. Chris Cornell is truly an angel on this earth...and nothing makes me more happy than to see Rory smile. I now find myself day-dreaming of the day when I get to witness Rory hug his hero...whenever that will be. So please as you listen to this song..know that this was written in a Daddy's anquish....say a prayer for Rory, his wife Connie and their son, Zavier. And Chris...from me to you....my cup runeth over...you are a rare breed and thank you for loving my friend."
